23h52 sighting made by four fligh deck members and captain.i looked out of the window and saw on the horizon bearing 210°m what appeared to be a planet.it had the colour and magnitude of venus but clearly could not be venus.it then became apparent that it was moving towards me and i assumed thwt it was another aircraft showing landing lights flying along an intersecting airway.the light became too bright to be an aircraft and as it approached one could see trails behind it with yellow spraks in them ans as it got closer several red lights , the size and colour of aircraft navigation lights which kept station with the bright light and behind it..the closing speed was greater than that of an aircraft one flight levele above and the distribution of the lights much wider and longer than would have been possible had it been another aircraft but too close for a formation. it passed overhead and appeared on the starboard side with the bright light unchanged and the red lights still keeping station.in other words it could not have been landing lights on another aircraft because it was far too bright and they do not shine backwards .as it receded to the horizon the starlight retained its colour but lost its intensity until at the horizon it turned yellow and disappeared . we were not sure if this was because it burned out or because it disappeared into the haze layer. the total time form horizon to horizon was four minutes

cluster of lights that appeared to be little more than a hundred feet up. A closer look disclosed three green lights in a line shining directly downwards with a much larger crimson one underneath. The colour strangely fluorescent and metallic. Half blinded by the lights the girls could just discern an oval shape with fins at either extremities it was making no sound at all and was aquite unlike any aircraft they'd seen. for th efoirest time they began to feel fear.suddendly the object emmited a shrill whine and began spiralling downa like a leaf?it semmed to have sensed their presence and theu were too frightened to move or speak. then it slowed doan straight ahead the high pitched whine gave way to a hum and the object setteld itself on the groundonly 30 feet away. About the size of small car it still seemed to be wathcing them. without a word they began edging along the ridge in the shadow of a wall before breaking into a run. then stopped to look back. suddenly the objecte rose slowly and uncertainly lights flickering as though undecided what to do next.humming soflty it again seemed to be approaching the girls aware of their moveme,t.then at about 100 feet it banked sharply round and descended disappearing behind the trees diwn the slope. emboldened the two girls retraced their steps to get a clear view. the object was perched on a steep incline some 30 yards doiwn the slope. they watched for 2 min and then the object began to wooble before ascending smoothly as though under much firmer control

Looking out the door of their bungalow towards the east they witnessed what appeared at first to be two very bright stars.they took ten minutes to cover an arc of 90 degrees from east to south flying at a trazjectory of about 20 degrees said mr hall a retired civil servant who noted the time at about 11 20 pm. as they moved topwards the south east, each single light became double and as they moved farther to the south more lights appeared to form a triangle shape composed of many lights. mostly white but with soime red flashing ones he said.mr hall who observed the phenomenon with a nmber of neighbours said there was a 45 minute gap followed by a second sighting. again two single lights became double lights and moved waay slowly through 120 degres gradually disappearing towards the south

two usaf jets based at raf manston were armed and ordered to fire on a ufo the size of an aircraft carrier. Apparently the aircraft belonged to teh 406 fighter wing and altough based at manston they were armed at bentwaters. One i remember quite well was at 3000 ft i was told that the "bogey" was at angles 3 and at a very slow speed. i recall being told that the unknow was at 12 o clock and i was closing. perhaps because of the ground clutter i never got a positive radar contact on the unknow? a th is point i believe i was in the vicinity of norwich. as directed i attempted to get a visual contact when i closed to less than 1 miles but was uinable. if the unknown was lighted hje lasut have blended with the ground lights. the bogey then either accelerated or descended and the controller lost him

i saw a bright sharply defined white ball of light approaching slowly form the north west.i initially assumed that thiw was an aircraft though i was puzzled by the lack of identification lights which should have been cleraly discernible if the aircraft had been as close as the light had suggested. i lost intreste at the time assuming it to be an helicopter.; on a629 i realized that there was apparently no noise emanating from the object because of a lull in the traffic noise

incident avec un sabre

Page 259 - 262: 1957 incident involving USAF F-86D Sabre jets over East Anglia. Accounts of this UFO incident from the height of the Cold War were made public for the first time when two retired pilots of the USAF 406th Fighter Interceptor Wing - met at a reunion at RAF Manston in Kent during 1988. They recalled having taken part in an unusual ‘scramble’ one night in 1956-57 to intercept a UFO detected above East Anglia by an RAF air defence radar. The pilot obtained radar ‘lock-on’ to the UFO target that was visible simultaneously both on ground and airborne radar. He said the radar blip appeared on his aircraft’s radar system as similar in size to a B-52 bomber and had ‘the proportions of a flying aircraft carrier’ (but note he saw nothing visually). The RAF fighter controller then ordered him to open fire on the target with his full salvo of 24 deadly rockets. Alarmed by this highly unusual command he queried the order - which was confirmed - but before he could take action the UFO broke radar lock and disappeared. On landing at Manston he claims he was debriefed by an agent from the US National Security Agency (NSA) who ‘threatened me with a national security breach if I breathed a word about it to anyone’. MoD papers on the incident are at DEFE 24/1931/1: pages 57, 65-77, 76-77, 119, 239, 259-262 and DEFE 24/1942/1: page 206 and 261. The papers indicate that a UFOlogist obtained the pilot’s statements in 1988 and wrote to MoD asking if they could confirm the UFO incident was ‘an experiment in electronic warfare’ or if the pilots were guinea pigs in a secret military exercise to create phantom ‘blips’ on radar. MoD were unable to provide an answer as inquiries failed to locate any reference to the incident in official records. They referred the questioner to the USAF who controlled operations at RAF Manston in 1956-58. In due course inquiries with the USAF resulted in a similar response: ‘no records found.’ The incident remains a mystery to this day. The story - and the names of the pilots (redacted in the MoD file) - were published by the Daily Star on 20 March 1991.
